Everything around the home
What people really think about our doona. Even we didn’t see this coming.
After every purchase, we send out one simple question: How happy are you with it, really? More than 2,000 people replied. Not with star ratings, but with actual sentences.
“Why has this only just come out?”
We saw that one more times than we could count. So we sat down and went through what people actually hated about their old doona — and what changed after switching to the DeepSleep.
Here are the 10 things people mentioned most often:
“Making the bed was doing my head in. I just couldn’t do it anymore.”
The one thing almost one in three people mentioned on their own
We didn’t ask, “Does making the bed annoy you?” We simply asked what they didn’t like about their old doona. Making the bed came up more than anything else — even before weight and overheating.
Cover off. New one on. Find the corners. Everything shifts around. Start again. Every second Sunday. Same bloody routine.
And eventually, you just do it without questioning it. Until you realise: It was never actually normal. It was just what you were used to.
The DeepSleep doona gets rid of all that. The doona and cover are one. Off the bed, into the washing machine, done. One customer put it perfectly: “Waking up to a doona cover that’s shifted around every morning — that’s just gone now.”
“Light” was the word we heard most
More than any other word in the entire survey
We asked: “If you had to describe the doona in three words, what would they be? Not a single word came up as often as “light.” By a long way. Then came "comfortable", "practical" and "cosy".
And that lines up with what people told us about their old doona: Too heavy. Too bulky. Too thick.
The ThermoBalance climate fibre in the DeepSleep weighs a fraction of a traditional doona without losing the warmth. You barely notice it’s there.
“I’ve got no idea how, but it keeps me warm and cool.”
Almost half of people said they deal with both sides: sweating AND freezing
One question in the survey really surprised us: Do you tend to get too hot, or too cold? Almost half of the answers were basically: “Depends on the time of year.”
And that’s exactly the problem with traditional doonas. The light one is freezing in October. The thick one is way too warm in May. So you end up with two or three doonas shoved in the cupboard, swapping them over twice a year.
Most customers couldn’t explain at first how the DeepSleep works both ways. They just knew one thing: They weren’t freezing in winter anymore, and they weren’t sweating in summer.
The reason? The climate fibres in the DeepSleep automatically regulate temperature — keeping you cooler in summer and warmer in winter. One doona for every season.
“90% of stuff you see on Social Media isn’t worth the money.”
What customers were really worried about before buying
That’s exactly what one customer wrote when we asked what had made them hesitate. And honestly, she’s got a point. The internet is full of products that promise the world and don’t deliver.
So we asked: What made you hesitate right before buying? The most common answer was the price. Straight after that: “Whether it would actually do what the ads say.” And fair enough.
That kind of scepticism makes sense. If you’ve been disappointed before, you’re not going to blindly believe another ad.
That’s why we give you 40 nights to try it. If it doesn’t work for you, send it back.
No risk. No money lost.

“As someone with allergies, it’s honestly a lifesaver.”
What most people didn’t realise about their old doona
Be honest: When was the last time you actually washed your doona? Not the cover. The doona itself. For most people, the answer is: Never. Too big. Too heavy. Too much hassle.
A normal doona cover only protects the outside. Sweat, skin flakes and dust mites can still build up inside, year after year, without you even noticing.
And for people with allergies, that’s not just a minor annoyance. It’s something they can deal with every day: Blocked nose. Itchy skin. Waking up with a heavy head. And often, without realising what was causing it.
With the DeepSleep, you wash the whole doona, not just the cover. So there’s nowhere for all that stuff to build up. Several customers brought this up themselves, saying they noticed fewer symptoms day to day.
“No more blocking out a whole day for washing. It’s honestly brilliant.”
The concern we hear most often before someone buys
Washing a traditional winter doona takes planning. The clothes horse is stuck in the middle of the house all day. You end up sleeping under a spare doona. And the next day, it’s still damp.
That’s the concern we hear most often before someone orders: “Will it actually fit in my washing machine? And how long is my clothes horse going to be in the way?”
The DeepSleep was designed to be lightweight and compact. It fits in a normal household washing machine and dries in around 2–3 hours on the line.
Wash it in the morning. Back on the bed in the afternoon. No planning around it for two days. No clothes horse taking over the house.
“I finally sleep through the night, and all I changed was the doona.”
It’s not just more comfortable — waking up less and falling asleep faster
Waking up during the night because you’re too hot or too cold? Pretty much everyone knows the feeling. You kick the doona off. Pull it back up. Flip it around. Do it again. And before you know it, half the night’s gone.
A lot of people just accept it. “I just don’t sleep well.” It becomes normal, without ever questioning what’s actually causing it.
So we asked: “Has your sleep changed since getting the DeepSleep?” And surprisingly often, we heard the same kind of answer: Waking up less. Sweating less. Sleeping more deeply.
It’s not a miracle cure. It’s pretty simple: If you’re not fighting with your temperature all night, you’re less likely to wake up.
“Dad, so he doesn’t have to deal with as much hassle at his age.”
No more pile of bed linen in the wardrobe
Who people most often said they’d recommend it to A heavy winter doona can be more of a chore than a comfort for your parents. Making the bed. Washing it. Carrying it. As the years go by, all of that gets a bit harder. But people don’t always talk about it.
When we asked Who would you recommend the doona to?, one answer kept coming up: Their parents. Mainly because it’s lighter and so much easier to handle. Straight after that came their partner or best friend.
Several customers told us they originally bought one for themselves, then ended up ordering another for someone in the family.
Just like this customer: “Dad, so he doesn’t have to deal with as much hassle at his age.”
“I love it. More colours would be nice.”
The most honest answer we got to “What would you improve?”
We were expecting all sorts of things. Comments about the material. The warmth. The size. Instead, the most common answer was: Nothing. Or: “I can’t think of anything.”
When people did have a suggestion, it was almost always the same: More colours. That’s something we’re already working on.
No product is perfect. But when the biggest complaint is: “I love it. More colours would be nice.” you’ve obviously got more things right than wrong.
“Why has this only just come out?”
Not thousands of people who bought a doona — thousands of people who changed their bed-making routine
The thing that stuck with us most while reading through those 1,000+ responses wasn’t a list of features. It was the same kind of sentence coming up again and again.
People who’d spent years dealing with the whole doona-cover routine and simply accepted it as normal. Until they realised: It doesn’t have to be that way.
Once you’ve switched, you don’t want to go back.
